When you think of major entertainment centres in the Greater Toronto Area your mind doesn't exactly jump to Pickering. Like the zoo is kind of close to Pickering but that doesn't exactly count as an entertainment centre.
The vibrant haven of Pickering is positioned in the Ontario Province (Canada). Holding 90000 inhabitants, it is perceived as a big town. There is no casino in Pickering which is a shame! Feb 04, 2020 Pickering Casino Resort is preparing for its official launch projected to happen this April. As it was recently confirmed by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, construction work in Pickering is progressing according to the initially issued schedule and the integrated resort is about to be finished on time.

But it looks like that will all be changing. Which is good news for anyone who is looking for something to do on the weekend, and anyone who will be needing a job in the coming years.
That's because Pickering is in the process of getting a casino, waterpark, and hotel all rolled into one. Yes,all those things will be in one place apparently.
The complex would apparently create OVER 10,000 JOBS! Over 2,000 of those people would be working in the casino itself.
There isn’t any set date for when this would open (which is unfortunate because it sounds quite simply amazing) Durham Live is in the process of getting all its permits in order before beginning construction on the complex.
But once open it would give people in the GTA a new casino option that’s a lot closer than driving to Barrie or Niagara Falls.
The city of Toronto itself has turned down the idea of building a casino downtown many times in the past.
But if Durham Live get everything sorted out with their permits then we could all have a new option for an extremely fun night out right here in the GTA.

A hugecelebration will take place just four weeks from now. GreatCanadian Gaming (GCG) has announced it will host the long-awaitedgrand opening of its newest casino next month. Situated just east ofToronto, the all new Pickering Casino is sure to attract a lotof attention from both locals and tourists.
Constructioncrews are still on site, working at full speed to complete the finalstages of the build. GCG is confident that the project will becompleted by the second week of April; so confident they’ve set anofficial date for the grand opening. It’s a launch several years inthe making, and one that comes with additional phases in the monthsahead.

GCG hasscheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wednesday, April 8, 2020.The mid-week party date was intentional, no doubt, as these eventstend to come with door prizes for the first however-many guests.Hosting the celebration on a Wednesday should cut down on the numberof tourists, making it more convenient for locals to enjoy thefestivities.
The grandopening celebration is expected to draw a decent amount of attentionas the city’s residents have been hearing about this project forthe last few years. No doubt thousands of locals will be eager toexplore the property and see what GCG has spent so much time, moneyand effort putting together.
It was initiallybelieved that the opening of Pickering Casino would spell the end ofAjax Casino at Ajax Down. After all, the new Pickering site isonly a 10-12 minute drive from the Ajax gambling destination, alsomanaged by GCG. However, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp(OLG) decided to keep the Slots at Ajax Downs, thereby preservingracing venue, as well as the jobs of many of that location’semployees. The attraction to Pickering’s new casino will be a) itsproximity to Toronto, and b) the availability of live dealer tablegames.
According to theofficial website, the PhaseOne launch will include “over 2,000 Slot Machines, 100 LiveTable Games, and 167 Live Dealer Stadium Gaming terminals.”Restaurant menus are said to offer fine dining, pub fare, an “upscalebuffet”, and more.
Opposition Still Wary of Market Saturation
The GraterToronto Area (GTA) is already home to several gambling facilities.Many did – and still do – argue over the need for new gamblingproperty in the Durham region. GCG may have dibs on most of thearea’s gambling revenue, but the owners of Casino Ramaaren’t so pleased with the situation.
Casino Rama,located 115km north of Toronto, was opened in 1996 by the Chippewa ofRama First Nation. For more than two decades, it was the area’slargest and most visited casino; among the most famous in all ofOntario, outside of the Niagara Falls region. Now, its owners fearthe property will eventually be unable to sustain operations as theylose patrons from Ajax, Markham and Pickering. Additional expansionsat GCG’s Casino Woodbine and Great Blue Heron Casinoin western GTA don’t bode well for them, either. And no doubt it’sgoing to get worse before it gets better.
Hotel and Arena to Open by End of 2020
Before the yearis out, construction on Phase Two of thePickering Casino Resort should be complete as well. When it is, theproperty will be welcoming the first guests to its 275-room luxuryhotel tower. Adjacent to that will be a 2,500 seat arena, promisingto host year-round concerts, theatre performances, and other liveevents.
